‎19-year-old Nigerian Accused of Second Degree Sexual assault on an Underaged Student in the U.S..

‎A 19-year-old Nigerian student of Mount Saint Charles Academy in Woonsocket is facing a sexual assault charge after an underage female student accused him of cornering her outside a locker room.

‎Oluwasegun Sanni was arraigned on Monday following his arrest on March 17, 2026, and charged with second-degree sexual assault.

‎According to a police report obtained by NBC 10 News, the minor, whose identity is being protected, told police the encounter left her distressed. She alleged that Sanni pushed her against a wall, grabbed her neck, attempted to kiss her, and touched her inappropriately.

‎Following his court appearance, a strict no-contact order was issued, despite both students attending the same school.

‎The judge instructed Sanni to avoid any form of interaction or acknowledgment, even in shared spaces or corridors.

‎Parents and students said the school notified families about the situation and advised against spreading rumors.

‎In a statement, the school confirmed it is aware of the “serious allegation” and is cooperating with authorities. It added that student safety remains a top priority, while ensuring a fair and respectful process for everyone involved.

‎Sanni has since been released on personal recognizance as investigations continue.
