DRM hails Joel-Onowakpo, Dafinone over A’Court victories
A socio-political group, the Delta Renaissance Movement (DRM), has felicitated with Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas (representing Delta South Senatorial District) and Senator Ede Dafinone (Delta Central Senatorial District) over their victories at the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, which affirmed them as the rightful winners of the February 25, 2023 elections in their respective senatorial districts.
In its ruling, the Court of Appeal (Lagos Division) had set aside the judgement of the National and State Houses of Assembly Elections Petitions Tribunal which had ordered a re-run within 90 days in the Warri South Local Government Area in the case filed by Mr. Michael Diden of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) against Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Dissatisfied with the Tribunal’s judgement, Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas had approached the Appeal Court which set aside the earlier judgement by the tribunal and also awarded a cost of #250,000 against Diden and PDP.
In a statement signed by Arch. Ambby Okuhor (National Coordinator), Chief Elohor Edivri (Secretary General) and Mr. Amajuoritse Ejuwa (Public Relations Officer), DRM said the victories of the two senators and APC at the Appeal Court had, indeed, indicated that the judiciary was truly impartial and the last hope of the common man.
According to DRM, “Our group wholeheartedly congratulates Distinguished Senators Joel-Onowakpo Thomas and Ede Dafinone on their superlative victories at the Appeal Court which affirmed them as the winners of the February 25, 2023, in their respective senatorial districts despite PDP’s shenanigans.
“We appeal to the good people of Delta South Senatorial District to continue to give their continuous cooperation, solidarity and prayers for Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas for the realisation of the great task ahead and to serve the Senate and the entire country better.”
