Delta state justices of peace  appreciates gov. Oborevwori for support

The President of the Delta State Justices of the Peace, Sir. Sam Odjoiji has appreciated the State Governor,  Rt . Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori for his support towards the Justices of the Peace in the state.

Sir Odjoiji , who made the commendation recently in a statement during their 10th year anniversary celebration in Asaba also thanked  the State Government for finding them worthy of appointment as the Justices of the Peace in the  State.

Sir Sam Odjoiji  applauded the Chief Judge of the State,  Hon. Theresa Diai , the Solicitor -General and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice in the state, the traditional rulers and all Justices of the Peace members for their contributions towards ensuring justice delivery.

He reafirmed their commitment to promoting peace in the state as peace according to him, was needed for meaningful development  , stressing that though,  peace was expensive war was never an alternative to peace.

He said that their call mandate was to promote peace in the state, in the  communities in particular and in the  society in general , explaining that peace should  cut across all tribes and religion.

Sir Odjoiji attributed lack of peace in the society today to include lack of fairness ,communication gap, betrayal of trust, greed , selfishness,  pride , politic, religious and ethic difference’s joblessness among others.

Sir Sam odjoiji however, solicited  assistance from the State Government and well meaning Nigerians for the execution of the critical projects capable of eliminating or litigating the negative effects that would bring about conflicts and war.

According to him, there was need to organize seminars on peace in  various parts of the state , focusing mainly on the youth who were easily manipulated to cause troubles  in the society.

He stated that their  radio jingles on peace that was on going ,  installation of billboards on peace in different part of the state, stickers of peace on cars and tricycles should be carried out  so that they would deliver the message of peace across the state.

Sir Odjoiji said that to achieve that , they  have to interact with the relevant government agencies, traditional rulers, opinion leaders, the President -Generals and the youth bodies of the various communities in ensuring that peace reigned in  all parts of the State.

He  used the medium to call on those who were Justices of the Peace that were not yet registered in any  of their chapters or branches to do so as soon as possible, adding that  there should be collective efforts in championing the message of peace to all Deltans and residents in the State.

He appealed to the State Ministry of Justice to make it compulsory that anyone who was  appointed as the Justice of Peace of the state should belong to a chapter.
