Identity Of Suspect Involved In $6.2 Million CBN Fraud, Wanted For Forging Buhari’s Signature Exposed
Odoh Eric Ocheme has been identified as one of the suspects wanted for allegedly forging the signature of former President Muhammadu Buhari to authorize the disbursement of $6,230,000 by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)
Ocheme, who previously served as the personal assistant to Godwin Emefiele, the former Governor of the CBN, is currently being pursued by the International Criminal Police Organisation (Interpol) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
This revelation comes after Boss Mustapha, the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), testified in a Federal High Court in Abuja, confirming that no funds were allocated for the payment of foreign election observers. Mustapha alleged that the CBN leadership, including Emefiele, forged signatures to process the payment

In response to these allegations, President Bola Tinubu appointed Jim Obazee as a Special Investigator to probe the CBN under Emefiele’s tenure. In February, Obazee requested Interpol to place Ocheme, along with two other suspects, Adamu Abubakar and Imam Abubakar, on its watchlist regarding the $6,230,000 payment.
Emefiele himself was implicated in the fraudulent payment and is currently facing a 20-count criminal charge filed against him by the EFCC.
Ocheme is also under investigation by the EFCC for alleged involvement in financial irregularities within the apex bank. Recently, he was declared wanted by the EFCC alongside Margaret Emefiele, Anita Joy Omoile, and Jonathan Omoile for alleged money laundering activities.
