Edo Refinery Receives Operational Licence From NMDPRA
Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has issued an operational licence to Edo Refinery and Petrochemical Company Limited, located in Ologbo, Edo State.
Gatekeepers News reports that Farouk Ahmed, CEO of NMDPRA, presented the licence to Segun Okeni, Head of Technical Operations at the refinery, during a ceremony on Tuesday.
Ahmed commended the company for achieving this milestone, urging them to continue making significant contributions to the petroleum refinery and gas processing subsector.
Okeni, responding on behalf of AIPCC Energy Limited, the parent company of Edo Refinery, expressed gratitude and assured that the company would continue to make meaningful contributions to the sector.
Okeni explained that the operational licence marks the final stage of approval from the regulatory authority, enabling the plant to operate fully as a refinery.
He also revealed that the company is developing three other projects, with one expected to be completed within the next year.
Also, the refinery is finalising plans with a domestic oil company to access crude oil for optimal production capacity.
“The operational licence is the final stage of approval from the regulatory authority, and this implies that the plant can now fully operate as a refinery,” Okeni said.
