Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has appointed Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, the daughter of President Bola Tinubu, as the chairperson of the newly reconstituted Lagos State Market Advisory Council.
The appointment was announced during the official inauguration of the council.
During the event, Governor Sanwo-Olu called on the council members to carry out their responsibilities with commitment and integrity. He stressed the importance of maintaining safety, fairness, and transparency when resolving disputes and in their interactions with customers in the markets.
Sanwo-Olu praised the members for their past efforts and described the appointments as recognition of their leadership abilities and dedication to community service.
He acknowledged that although progress had been made in market management, there is still room for improvement. The state government, he added, will continue to provide support and improve the working conditions of the council.
In her remarks, Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, who is also the Iyaloja General, pledged that the council would stay focused on its responsibilities. She explained that the council’s main tasks include addressing conflicts and challenges in markets and ensuring that cleanliness is maintained across all markets in Lagos.
She also appealed to the state government to provide more support to help the council effectively carry out its duties.
