The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 15 men in Niger State for their alleged involvement in illegal dealing of radioactive solid minerals.
The suspects were intercepted on Sunday, March 8, 2026, along Suleja-Maji Road while transporting the minerals in three trucks to several locations across Nigeria.
The purpose of the transport has not been disclosed.
The anti-graft agency stated on Tuesday that all 15 men are currently in custody at the EFCC’s Kaduna Zonal Directorate as investigations continue.
The commission provided details about the arrests.
“Operatives of the Kaduna Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC have arrested 15 male suspects for their alleged involvement in illegal dealing on radioactive solid minerals,” the EFCC said.
Officials explained how and where the suspects were intercepted, saying, “The suspects were intercepted and arrested on Sunday, March 8, 2026 along Suleja-Maji Road, Niger State, while conveying the suspected solid minerals in three trucks to several locations across Nigeria for an undisclosed purpose.”
Authorities confirmed the suspects are under investigation.
“The suspects are currently undergoing further investigations in the Kaduna Zonal Directorate of the Commission and will soon be charged to court,” the statement said.
The commission urged the public to report any suspicious activities related to radioactive or strategic minerals.
