A shocking story from Edo State is currently causing serious reactions across the country after a respected Yoruba group exposed the painful truth about the cruelty of kidnappers operating in Nigeria.
According to a report by Vanguard on March 7, 2026, the pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation Afenifere shared the disturbing incident while speaking about the rising insecurity in the country.
According to Jare Ajayi, the National Publicity Secretary of Afenifere, a medical doctor and his younger brother were kidnapped by armed criminals. The attackers demanded ransom from their family.
Sadly, even after the ransom for the doctor was paid and he was released, the kidnappers still killed his younger brother. The tragic act left the family devastated and showed the brutal mindset of many criminal gangs.
But months later, something unbelievable happened.
The doctor returned to work at his hospital as usual. Then one day, a sick child was rushed in for urgent treatment. While attending to the patient, the doctor reportedly recognised the faces of the adults who brought the child.
They were the same kidnappers who had abducted him.
Instead of reacting violently, the doctor stayed calm and quietly alerted the police after confirming their identities. Security operatives later moved in and arrested the suspects.
Ajayi said the incident shows a painful contradiction: the criminals valued the life of their own daughter enough to seek medical help, yet they showed no mercy when they killed another person.
