A young bride, Ishita Yadav, who was a software engineer from Bihar, India died by suicide at her apartment in the Miyapur area of Hyderabad’s Cyberabad, according to sources.
Reports claim that Ishita, who got married in February 2026, was being harassed by her husband for additional dowry – the money, goods, or estate a bride’s (wife’s) family transfers to the groom (husband) or his family upon marriage; which led her to take the drastic step.
She was found hanging from the ceiling fan in the hall of her marital apartment on April 1, 2025. Her husband, Neeraj Bhansal, found her and instantly alerted the police.
As per the police, Ishita and Neeraj were deeply in love before the marriage. They met on social media in 2020.
Ishita hailed from Bihar, while her husband, Neeraj, belonged to Madhya Pradesh. They dated for five years before tying the knot on February 20, 2026. The two worked in the software sector.
As per Ishita Yadav’s parents, the couple’s differences started after their marriage. The family revealed that Neeraj allegedly started pressuring Ishita for dowry and asked her to force her family to invest money in his start-up company, which he had launched recently.
First Information Report (FIR) was lodged at Miyapur police station on the complaint filed by Ishita’s parents, and an inquiry was conducted. Ishita’s body has been moved to Gandhi Hospital for postmortem. The police have even taken the husband into custody and questioned him on the matter.
Some end users reacted thus; “Has the girl’s family or any other relative revealed the reason? I wonder what prompted her to resort to the extreme step.” Another pointed, “Doesn’t look like a dowry case given the condition – LM + diff states. All the deaths are by default declared as dowry death, even with different reasons, if an unfortunate incident happened within a few years of marriage. A proper investigation must be done without any bias.” A third user penned, “No matter if you are an engineer or a housewife, these typical sh*t-eaters will always be greedy enough to burn their women or drive them to suicide for dowery..!”
