The Delta State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on residents of the state to throw their weight behind the party following the Supreme Court judgment that settled its leadership dispute.
Reacting to the ruling, the party said the decision of the apex court, which affirmed the earlier judgment of the Court of Appeal nullifying the Ibadan convention, underscored the supremacy of the rule of law over sentiments.
In a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Chief Kingsley Akpos Oturubo, the PDP described the verdict as a final resolution of the protracted leadership crisis that had rocked the party.
The party declared that it was time to reposition and rebuild, assuring that it remains “alive, stronger and better” ahead of the 2027 general elections.
It appealed to the people of Delta State to renew their support, insisting that the PDP remains the only platform that has consistently delivered democratic dividends to the electorate.
The statement also urged aggrieved members and those who had left the party to return, assuring them of fair treatment and inclusion.
“We will be magnanimous in victory. PDP remains your home,” the party said, calling for unity as it prepares to reclaim its mandates at the polls.
The chapter further congratulated members of the party’s National Working Committee led by Abdulrahman Mohammed and the National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, for their roles in securing the legal victory.
It commended their resilience and commitment, noting that the outcome had reinforced confidence in the party’s leadership and democratic ideals.
