PDP Picks Clark as Burutu Federal Constituency Candidate After Primary Polls in Kiagbodo.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has elected Hon. Ebipade Clark, a son of the late Chief Dr EK Clark, foremost Ijaw National Leader as its candidate for the Burutu Federal Constituency seat following the party’s primary election held in Kiagbodo, Burutu Local Government Area, Delta State.

The primary, conducted on Thursday 28th May, 2026 saw delegates from across the 11 wards of Burutu LGA converge at Kiagbodo to decide the party’s flagbearer for the upcoming House of Representatives election. Party officials described the process as peaceful and orderly, with accreditation and voting completed under the supervision of PDP officials and security personnel.

Hon. Ebipade Clark emerged victorious after securing the majority of valid votes cast by accredited delegates. He was the party’s sole candidate contesting for the representative seat of the federal constituency. In his acceptance speech, Clark thanked party members for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to prioritize effective representation, youth empowerment, and infrastructural development for Burutu Federal Constituency when elected.

“I am humbled by this mandate. This victory belongs to every PDP member in Burutu. Our focus now is to unite the party and work towards delivering the dividends of democracy to our people at the federal level,” Clark said.

Party stakeholders at the venue commended the PDP leadership for ensuring a transparent process. A senior party chieftain present noted that the primary reflects the PDP’s commitment to internal democracy and grassroots participation in Delta State.

The Burutu Federal Constituency seat covers the entire Burutu LGA, a riverine area with significant oil and gas activities. Political analysts say the PDP’s choice of Clark, a known figure in local politics, signals the party’s intent to consolidate its stronghold in the constituency ahead of the general election.
