35-Year-Old Canada-based Nigerian man charged for alleged sexual assault of minor in a grocery store.

A 35-year-old Canada-based Nigerian, Idris Olajide Oladejo, has been arrested and charged after he sexually assaulted a child inside a grocery store in Toronto.

According to the Toronto Police Service (TPS), the incident happened on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at about 7 p.m. in the Victoria Park Avenue and St. Clair Avenue East area.

Police said the child was shopping with their parents when the assault occurred.
“The unknown suspect sexually assaulted the victim. The suspect then fled the area and was chased by a civilian,” the police said.

Following the incident, investigators released a description of the suspect and appealed to the public for information that could help identify him.

The suspect was initially described as a man believed to be about 30 years old with a thin build, last seen wearing a green T-shirt, dark-coloured Adidas shorts and pink Crocs.

In an update, the Toronto Police Service announced that Oladejo, a Toronto resident, was arrested on Tuesday, June 23, 2026.

He has been charged with one count each of sexual assault and sexual interference and was scheduled to appear before the Toronto Regional Bail Centre on the same day.

Police noted that a sexual assault is any form of unwanted sexual contact and urged anyone with additional information related to the case to come forward as investigations continue.
