Whitney Houston’s daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown passed away tragically in 2015, bringing a devastating life journey to the Houston family and ultimately changing the course of Whitney Houston’s multimillion-dollar fortune.
Whitney had planned for her lone daughter to inherit her wealth through a will before to her passing. But Bobbi Kristina too passed much too soon to experience this estate.
When Whitney Houston passed away on February 11, 2012, Bobbi Kristina, who was only eighteen at the time, inherited the majority of her assets. Whitney’s will created a trust that would release the funds gradually in order to safeguard her daughter’s inheritance. Bobbi Kristina received only 10% of the estate when she reached 21. Another portion was supposed to be given to her at age 25, and the remaining portion at age 30.
But after a medical issue, Bobbi Kristina spent over six months in hospice care before passing away on July 26, 2015, at the age of 22. The remaining assets did not remain in her estate because she was single, had no children, and left no will. Rather, Whitney Houston’s first estate plan became operative.
Whitney’s closest surviving family members, including her mother, Cissy Houston, and her brothers, received the remaining portion of her inheritance in accordance with the terms of her will. Until her death in October 2024 at the age of 91, Cissy Houston remained the main beneficiary.
Under expert administration, Whitney Houston’s estate is still doing well today. In order to preserve Whitney’s legacy while making a sizable profit, the estate manages music royalties, streaming income, licensing deals, films, biographical projects, and business collaborations. Projects using the late singer’s name and likeness are still approved by family representatives and estate executors, upholding the legacy of one of the greatest voices in music history.
