Police Arrest Eiye Cultist for Shooting His Colleague for Renouncing Membership in Delta State.

Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested a suspected member of the Eiye Confraternity, Oghenebuba Mamatime, for allegedly shooting a former cult member who renounced his membership in Jesse, Delta State.

The command’s spokesperson, Bright Edafe, said the suspect had been on the police watch list over his alleged involvement in cult-related activities before he was arrested on July 21, 2026, in a joint operation involving police operatives and youths from Jesse Community.

According to Edafe, the arrest followed a complaint by the victim, who alleged that Mamatime shot him on July 2, 2026, along Ujomi Road in Jesse, after he decided to leave the cult group.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect, an alleged member of the Eiye Confraternity, was unhappy with the victim’s decision to renounce cultism. Police said the suspect allegedly tried to force the victim back into the confraternity, and an argument reportedly ensued before the victim was shot.

Edafe further disclosed that officers recovered three locally made pistols and one locally made single-barrel gun from the suspect during his arrest.

The suspect remains in police custody while investigations continue
