Ughelli – The Most Popular Political leader, within Delta Central, Chief Barr. Okiemute Fred Majemite, popularly known as Agbragha’mi’gbrogho of the Universe, once a two-time Honourable Commissioner in Delta State, has cleared the air over speculations surrounding his political ambitions and alleged defection following the announcement of Sen. Ede Dafinone as the preferred candidate for the Delta Central Senate race.
Majemite explained that he was indeed prepared to contest the Senate race, but immediately after Governor Sheriff Oborevwori announced Senator Ede Dafinone, he reconsidered his position and chose to support the governor’s decision.
According to him, Governor Oborevwori, as the leader of the party in Delta State, understands the political dynamics of the state better than most people and must have had compelling reasons for making his choice.
He said, “Whatever decision His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff Oborevwori, took is on the right track for the betterment of Delta Central because he knows best why he chose Ede Dafinone.”
Majemite noted that the office of the governor comes with enormous responsibilities and challenges that members of the public may not always be aware of. He therefore urged party members and political stakeholders to trust the governor’s judgment and support whoever he chooses to lead.
He stressed that he remains committed to the political family and has no reason to be at odds with the governor over the decision.
“We Are Not Enemies”
Majemite also expressed delight over the display of unity among political stakeholders from Ethiope West at the birthday anniversary celebration of Chief Ighoyota Amori in Mosogar.
He said he was particularly impressed to see prominent political figures from the area embracing one another, sharing drinks, joking and interacting freely without displaying personal animosity.
According to him, such unity is exactly what is needed within the political family.
“We are not enemies. I was so impressed seeing them joking and relating together without any personal hatred being displayed. That is all what we need in our political family.”
He called on political actors to put personal differences aside and work together for the collective development of the state.
Majemite Commends Oborevwori’s Economic Summit
The former commissioner also commended the Delta State Government for organising the economic summit, describing the initiative as evidence that Governor Oborevwori is committed to creating a stronger economic future for Deltans.
Majemite said the summit demonstrated that the governor genuinely means well for the people of Delta State and is focused on creating an environment where businesses can grow and opportunities can be expanded.
On employment, he acknowledged that government alone cannot provide jobs for every young person in the state.
He therefore praised the governor’s efforts to create an enabling environment for skills acquisition, entrepreneurship and private-sector businesses to thrive, noting that such initiatives can provide sustainable opportunities for youths beyond direct government employment.
He urged Deltans to appreciate the administration’s efforts and support programmes aimed at strengthening the state’s economy and improving the livelihood of its people.
Majemite reaffirmed his commitment to peace, unity and the collective development of Delta State, stressing that political differences should not be allowed to destroy relationships or undermine the larger interest of the people.
