Ms Sandra Duru has released an audio recording in which she claimed to have had a conversation with a senior police officer, CP Akin Fakorede, who previously headed the Inspector General of Police Monitoring Unit under former Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun.
In the recording which she posted on her Prof Mgbeke Facebook handle and which we obtained, a voice which Duru claimed to be that of Fakorede, allegedly admonished her over what he described as her harsh manner of speaking to people in authority, particularly those older than her.
The voice in the recording also reportedly told Duru that the legal case involving Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan had come to an end, claiming that the Federal Government, through the Attorney-General, had withdrawn the case and it can not be revisited again. He went on to advise her to move on with her life.
However, Duru's response to the alleged conversation was combative.
In a separate recorded reaction, she reportedly directed a barrage of insults at the police officer, switching between English and Yoruba as she expressed her anger over the alleged advice.
Duru also made a startling declaration in the recording, saying she would return to Nigeria and eventually become the country's first female president.
"I will come back to Nigeria and be first female president. Imo State I will govern it," she declared.
She also took aim at Senate President Godswill Akpabio, declaring that if he were in her presence, she would speak to him as though he were a child.
According to her, she respects a child more than the Senate President and went on to use several unprintable expressions against him.
Duru further alleged in the recording that attempts had been made to persuade her to accept money.
She claimed that if she wanted money from Akpabio, she could obtain whatever amount she wanted, suggesting that financial inducements were not her motivation.
The emergence of the recording comes against the backdrop of Duru's involvement in the highly publicised controversy surrounding Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan and the Senate leadership.
Duru came to public attention last year after appearing as a witness in the legal proceedings involving Akpoti-Uduaghan during her dispute with the Senate President.
The controversy generated significant public attention and became the subject of legal and political battles.
The case has since been withdrawn. Akpabio had earlier, at the beginning of the year, directed his legal team to step down from the matter, while the Federal Government also subsequently withdrew its case.
The latest audio recording, however, introduces fresh claims and allegations surrounding the circumstances of the case and the interactions between Duru and individuals connected to the investigation.
There has been no independent verification of the authenticity of the audio or confirmation that the voice heard in the recording belongs to CP Akin Fakorede.
Similarly, the claims made by Duru regarding alleged offers of money and other conversations surrounding the withdrawal of the case remain allegations contained in her recording.
