The Isoko Association of North America (IANA) has elected Dr. Goodie Omuyeh as chairman of its Caretaker Committee to establish a stronger organizational structure with a high level of transparency and accountability. The new executives include Mr. Patrick Amawhe (Secretary), Mr. Jacob Esi (Treasurer), and Mrs. Ajiri Obieroma (Financial Secretary).
Omuyeh has pledged to unite Isoko people across the United States and Canada while promoting effective governance and accountability. He also emphasized the need to network with all the key stakeholders, political leaders, and the umbrella Isoko Development Union (IDU) so that the people can speak with one voice on the socioeconomic and political issues affecting the Nigerian ethnic nationality.
Dr. Omuyeh is a seasoned administrator with multiple graduate degrees in mass communication, education, administration, leadership development, and social work. He was a Strategic Planning Manager with Insight Communications before leaving Nigeria for further studies in the United States. He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge as a supervisory manager in the forensic unit of the Public Health Management Corporation of Philadelphia, Director of Community and Behavioral Health at Devereux Foundation, and recently as Executive Director of a private health organization in Pennsylvania.
Dr. Omuyeh is also a creative writer with a strong interest in Isoko culture and traditions. He recently published Folklore of The Isoko People, a compelling collection of folktales. He hopes to collaborate with government and non-government agencies to attract meaningful initiatives that will benefit the Isoko people in the years ahead.
