Abducted Kogi Councillor Dies After Days in Captivity.

A serving councillor representing Ogugu Ward III in Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State, Rosemary Aduku, has died in captivity days after she was kidnapped.

Aduku, popularly known as Hon. Rosella among her colleagues, was reportedly kidnapped on October 1, 2026.

Details surrounding her death, including whether any ransom was demanded or paid, were not immediately available as of the time of filing this report.

The Chairman of Olamaboro Local Government Area, Dr Ameh Williams, confirmed her death in a statement issued on Thursday, October 8, 2026.

Williams described the late councillor as a humble and reliable person who sought to make those around her happy.

He said Aduku, who served in the 8th Olamaboro Legislative Council, had left behind legacies and testimonies that her colleagues and associates would remember despite her untimely death.

The chairman also prayed for God to grant her family, members of the legislative and executive councils, and the entire Ogugu district the strength to bear the loss.

Williams announced that the burial was scheduled for 1 p.m. on Friday at her family compound in Ogugu Centre and invited members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to attend the funeral and pay their last respects.
