‎Bandits Demand N1Billion Ransom To Free Kwara ECWA Members.

‎Gunmen who abducted eight worshippers from the Evangelical Church of West Africa (ECWA) in Omugo, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, have demanded a ransom of N1 billion for their release.

‎The Pastor-in-Charge of the church, Toba Omole, disclosed this while speaking with journalists, confirming that the victims remain in captivity days after the incident.

‎The abductees, including the pastor’s wife, were taken during a Sunday worship service after the attackers reportedly fired shots into the air, causing panic among congregants before whisking away their victims, reports had mentioned.

‎Omole said the kidnappers made contact with the community on Tuesday, allowing them to speak briefly with the captives before stating their demand.

‎“We were able to hear from those who were abducted. I heard my wife’s voice and those of other members,” he said.

‎“About eight of them are still in captivity, and the kidnappers have demanded N1 billion for their release.”

‎He appealed to the Kwara State Government and the public for assistance, stressing that the amount demanded is beyond the community’s capacity.

‎“This is far beyond what we can afford. We are appealing for help and intervention, including efforts toward negotiation to secure their release,” he added.
