The management of Seat of Wisdom Secondary School in Aliade, Benue State, has expelled 11 students over their alleged involvement in a violent altercation that led to the stripping of a female student in a video that recently went viral on social media.
The disturbing video, which circulated widely online, showed a female student being stripped by fellow students wearing school uniforms during a fight.
In the footage, the victim struggled to cover herself while other students mocked her and recorded the incident.
However, the development stirred outrage across social media platforms and prompted swift intervention from the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), which directed its Benue State Command to work with relevant authorities to ensure appropriate action was taken.
SaharaReporters gathered that the fight occurred about a week ago but did not take place within the main school premises.
According to a report by Vanguard, the confrontation happened in a bush located behind the school during extension classes organised for JSS3 and SS3 students.
A source explained that the incident began as a disagreement between two female students who decided to settle their dispute through a fight.
“They allegedly agreed to leave the school environment and settle the dispute in a secluded area, away from the prying eyes of teachers. However, what started as a one-on-one confrontation quickly got out of hand when their friends joined in,” the source said.
The situation reportedly escalated into chaos as other students joined the fight, tearing one another’s uniforms, including underwear, while some bystanders recorded the incident and mocked the victim.
“The disturbance eventually attracted the attention of teachers, who intervened. The students were stopped and the situation was contained before it snowballed into a major crisis in the school,” the source added.
Following the incident, the school management suspended the extension classes while preliminary disciplinary measures were taken against those involved.
“They were all individually expelled from the school once it was established that they played one role or another in the despicable act,” a source said.
It was further gathered that nine girls and two boys were among the students expelled from the school, and their parents have been officially informed of the disciplinary action.
Each of the expulsion letters, signed by the school principal, stated that the decision followed the recommendations of the institution’s Disciplinary Committee after a detailed investigation.
The letter read in part: “Following the recommendation of the school’s Disciplinary Committee after a thorough investigation into your alleged involvement in fighting and the unlawful posting of a video on social media, which amounts to a violation of school rules and regulations and a deliberate attempt to tarnish the name of the school, you have been expelled with immediate effect from March 23, 2026
