ICYMI: Imo community banishes woman for allegedly selling sister-in-law’s son for N800k (Video

‎A video emerged on Thursday on social media platforms showing the moment a woman was banished from the Umekpu Village, Ogbaku, in Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State for allegedly selling her sister-in-law’s son for N800,000.

‎In the video footage, the woman is seen being escorted out of the community by a crowd of villagers with derogatory songs and taunts while she carried her luggages.

‎A man who seemed to be one of the community leaders is also heard stating the reason why the woman was being banished from the community.

‎“We are banishing her from our community, Umekpu Village, Ogbaku, in Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State,” the man said.

‎“Why we are banishing her is because she did an evil thing and is not fit to live among us.

‎“She sold her sister-in-law’s son, that is the son of her brother’s wife for N800,000 and for that reason, we have to banish her,” the man said.

‎However, some commenters on X believe just banishing the woman is not the best punishment fit for her as she should be handed over to the police for proper prosecution and possible jail term.
