Jamaican music icon and actor, Jimmy Cliff has died at the age of 81.
The cause of death was a seizure followed by pneumonia.
Jimmy Cliff’s wife, Latifa Chambers, announced his death via a statement on Instagram.
“It’s with profound sadness that I share that my husband, Jimmy Cliff, has crossed over due to a seizure followed by pneumonia,” she wrote.q
One of the most prominent and beloved proponents of reggae music, Cliff helped to bring the sound of Jamaica to a global audience through hits such as “You Can Get It If You Really Want” and “I Can See Clearly Now”.
The reggae legend was also credited with popularising Jamaican culture globally, notably through his starring role in the 1972 film The Harder They Come
