The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested Koabasi Marsodi, a graduate of Animal Science from the University of Uyo, for allegedly running an illegal arms and narcotics production facility in Uyo.
The arrest took place on Sunday, March 15, 2026, around 9:00 p.m., during a targeted raid on criminal hideouts and illegal workshops across the state. The operation, according to the command’s Public Relations Officer Timfon John, was based on credible intelligence identifying a criminal facility at Idem Street, off Itu Road, Uyo.
Investigations revealed that Marsodi’s facility produced narcotic-laced chin-chin snacks while secretly fabricating and modifying firearms. He reportedly admitted to producing the drugs and converting long guns into concealable weapons.
Police recovered firearm components, cartridges, gunpowder, machetes, fabrication tools, and packets of narcotic-laced snacks. Authorities are continuing investigations to identify other members of the criminal network. Commissioner of Police Baba Mohammed Azare emphasized that intelligence-driven operations would continue and warned criminals to desist or face prosecution.
