A student at the Delta State School of Nursing who was questioned for allegedly recording and posting an “unauthorised” video on social media during Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu’s visit to her school, has failed her final examination.
Sources privy to the development confirmed this to Saharareporters, describing it as a politically motivated act of institutional witch-hunt.
In March, the student, identified as Osato Edobor, was seen in a viral video among her peers singing the now-popular refrain, “Na your mama be this.” This was a direct rebuttal to the Master of Ceremonies, who had hailed the First Lady as “our mother” during her visit to Delta State as part of her Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI).
Naija News House has learned that Osato, despite being a top-performing student since her admission into the school, failed her final examination under suspicious circumstances.
A source familiar with the matter said: “The nurse who got into trouble for posting ‘Na our mama be dis o’ video just failed her final exam. She has been a brilliant, top-performing student from the very beginning.”
Recall that during the First Lady’s March visit to Delta, she was met with a cold reception from Delta State School of Nursing students, who resisted an attempt to brand her as the “mother of the nation”.
In a viral video, when the MC declared “Na our mama be this”, the students clapped back in unison: “Na your mama be this.”
The brief but bold moment struck a nerve online and sparked wider conversations about the growing dissatisfaction with the Bola Tinubu-led administration, especially among young Nigerians.
In response to the incident, the Delta State College of Nursing Sciences swiftly issued a disciplinary query to Osato Edobor, accusing her of committing a “malicious act” for posting the video online.
The letter, dated March 27, 2025, and signed by the Provost, Evbodaghe Rita Ogonne, claimed Edobor’s actions were in violation of school ethics.
The query read, “It has come to the notice of the school authority that you, Student Nurse Osato Edobor on the 25th of March, 2025 during official visit of the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON at Dome Event Center, Asaba for the Renewed Hope Initiative Health Programme and distribution of 10,000 Professional Kits (Crocs and Scrubs) to Midwives in each Geopolitical Zone of Nigeria South South Zone, was found to be engage in malicious act of recording/singing and posting unofficial response to song during the arrival of the First Lady (found on your TikTok Page).
