The resident pastor of The Waterbrook Church, Blessed Uzochikwa, has shared details of a health scare involving his wife, gospel singer Mercy Chinwo during her second pregnancy.
Naija News reports that during a church service, he said the incident happened when she was expecting their second child, who was later born in 2025.
According to him, she left their bedroom, went to their son’s room and began to feel unwell before she collapsed. He added that she did not respond after the fall, which caused panic in the house.
He explained that he reached out to gospel singer and pastor Nathaniel Bassey for urgent help. He said Bassey asked for a video call to assess her condition and later arrived at their home with members of the Hallelujah Challenge prayer team to pray for her.
The pastor said Chinwo later regained consciousness after the prayers. He also said Bassey described the situation as a spiritual attack.
“Pastor Nath is a blessing to my family. We talk all the time, and I am honoured to have access to him. I can remember what he did when my wife was pregnant with my second child. She came out of the room and went to my son’s room.
“She started complaining and collapsed. Her face was dark, and I was confused because she was not responding. I called Pastor Nath, and he said that I should do a video call, and he came with the Hallelujah Challenge prayer team,”he said.
Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa and Mercy Chinwo got married in August 2022 and welcomed their first child, a son, in 2023. The couple later announced the birth of their second child in August 2025
