In the early 1900s, the Sells-Floto Circus included a performer named Pascual Pinon, a Mexican man with two heads. Pinon was known as “the two-headed Mexican man.” He was brought up in the United States despite having been born in Mexico. Pinon was diagnosed with a huge benign tumor on the top of his head when he was born, and doctors immediately operated to remove it. .
It is possible for a person to have two heads; but, unlike a condition known as craniopagus parasiticus, which is a form of conjoined twins in which one head is positioned upside-down on top of the other, Pinon’s second head was orientated upright, just like his original head was. It is possible for a person to have two heads; however, it is not common.
Pinon was struck down by a severe headache, which ultimately led to the loss of his second head. After conducting an examination, the medical professionals concluded that the only way to ensure the patient’s survival was to amputate his second head.
During the entire surgery, the man with two heads was aware of his surroundings, despite receiving novocaine to numb the area. Mr. Pinon was extremely lucky in that the removal of the tumor that was located in his brain did not cause him to sustain any kind of brain damage.
