President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of the Pro-Chancellor, governing council members, and principal officers for the newly established Federal University of Environment and Technology, located in Koroma/Saakpenwa, Ogoni, Rivers State.
This announcement was made in a statement released on Wednesday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
Prof. Don Mon Baridam, a South-South native and professor of Management with a focus on Organisational Behaviour, has been named the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council. Meanwhile, Prof. Chinedu Mmom, also from the South-South and a professor in the Department of Geography and Environmental Management at the University of Port Harcourt, will serve as the Vice-Chancellor. Mmom previously served as Rivers State Commissioner for Education.

Mr. Hamid Adekunle (South West)
Prof. Chima Oji (South East)
Alhaji Abdullahi Magaji Lamda (North West)
Key administrative appointments include:
Dr. Mpigi Monday Douglas (South South) as Registrar
Zoryii Josco Nwaimanie (North Central) as Bursar
Dr. Saghanen Ntogo G. B. (South South) as Librarian
The institution is set to welcome its first batch of students in September 2025. The university was officially established after President Tinubu signed the enabling bill into law on February 3, 2025.
