Afire broke out in the early hours at the headquarters of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN), situated in the heart of Abuja’s Central Business District.
The blaze quickly caught administrative areas on the third floor, sending thick smoke billowing through sections of the multi-storey facility and prompting an immediate emergency response.

In a statement following the incident, FMBN management reassured the public that key financial documents and vital digital records remain safe and unaffected.
An official investigation is now underway to determine the precise cause of the spark, while bank staff have been advised to await further administrative directives as damage assessment teams evaluate the site.
