The Ogun State government has expressed strong disapproval over the actions of controversial hip-hop artist, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, towards officials from the Ogun State Planning and Development Permit Authority (OGPDPA) at his bar.
The singer, along with some of his associates, allegedly assaulted the government officials during their lawful duties.
In a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Information and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, the government labeled Portable as a habitual troublemaker and an unrepentant offender with a history of attacking government personnel without justification.
Akinmade described the recent assault by Portable and his associates as unacceptable and barbaric, emphasizing that such behavior is both disgraceful and intolerable to the local community and the government.
“We are deeply shocked by the unruly and uncivilized behavior of hip-hop artist Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, which took place on Wednesday in the Iyana-Ilogbo area of the state, where his bar is located,” Akinmade stated.
“The manner in which Portable and a group of miscreants under his employ assaulted OGPDPA officials is not only appalling but also a clear reflection of the erosion of Omoluabi values in these individuals—a shameful act against the state.”
Governor Dapo Abiodun has unequivocally condemned this primitive and indecent behavior, reaffirming his commitment to upholding justice and equality. He emphasized that anyone who violates the laws of the land, regardless of their social standing or influence, will face the full force of the law.
