The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to approve and utilise the modified digital logo of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), featuring a “two-finger victory sign”.
The NDC disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday by its National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director Esq., following judgment delivered by Justice J.O. Abdulmalik.
According to the party, the suit was filed after INEC initially uploaded the modified logo but later removed it and reinstated the old association logo with which the NDC was originally registered.
The party said its First National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on March 25, 2026, approved the modified logo and forwarded it to INEC for use.
It added that after giving the electoral commission sufficient time to correct the issue administratively without success, it was compelled to seek legal redress.
In the judgment, the court ordered INEC, its servants, agents and officers to “forthwith approve the modified logo design” of the NDC, including its symbol and colours, for use as the party’s official logo for all purposes, including elections conducted by the commission.
The court further granted a perpetual injunction restraining INEC from stopping or interfering with the NDC’s use of the digitally designed “two-finger” victory sign.
The NDC described the judgment as a timely intervention by the judiciary and directed all its candidates and members to use only the approved logo on campaign materials, including banners, posters and other publicity items.
The party acknowledged that some candidates and members may have already produced campaign materials bearing the old logo, expressing regret over any inconvenience caused.
The NDC said it would intensify public sensitisation on its official logo and assured supporters and candidates that there was nothing to worry about.
