‎Dangote Group Mourns Death of Phyna’s Sister, Ruth Otabor

‎The Dangote Group has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Miss Ruth Otabor, younger sister of Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, Ijeoma Josephina Otabor, popularly known as Phyna.


‎Ruth passed away on Sunday, August 31, after sustaining severe injuries in a recent road accident involving one of Dangote’s trucks in Auchi, Edo State.



‎In a statement signed by the management of Dangote Group, the company described her demise as a painful loss and extended condolences to the Otabor family.


‎“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Ruth Otabor, who was injured in the recent road incident involving one of our trucks in Auchi, Edo State. On behalf of the entire Dangote Group, we extend our heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, and loved ones at this difficult time,” the statement read.


‎The conglomerate revealed that since the accident, its officials and insurance partners had been supporting Ruth and her family by covering medical expenses. Arrangements had also been concluded to fly her to India for advanced treatment once medical clearance was granted.


‎“Sadly, despite these efforts and Ruth’s brave fight to live, we lost her today,” the statement added.


‎The company reiterated its commitment to safety and accountability, assuring that measures would be further strengthened to prevent similar tragedies.


‎“Safety, accountability, and compassion remain at the core of our operations. We remain committed to supporting those affected in moments of tragedy. May God grant her mercy and eternal rest,” Dangote Group said.


‎Ruth Otabor’s death has drawn an outpouring of grief from fans and sympathizers across the country, many of whom have sent words of comfort to Phyna and her family
