A top Delta State politician and former President-General of Irri Community in Isoko South Local Government Area of the state, Hon. Raphael Okelezo, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the resuscitation of the Port Harcourt and Warri refineries which he described as special new year gift to the nation.
In a statement released to newsmen in Isoko, Wednesday, Okelezo, also a business tycoon, said the hard decision by President Tinubu to make the hitherto prostrate refineries roar back to life after previous administrations had expended trillion of naira on the turn-around maintenance of the refineries without the desired results, was indeed, a commendable feat that needed to be appreciated by all Nigerians.
According to him: "This is a remarkable achievement by the President. It's a special new year gift to the nation. With this development, it is my strong belief that the with the resuscitation of the refineries the pum price of petroleum products will begin to drop drastically."
He said, though Nigerians were passing through hard times, but with the prayers and support of all Nigerians the nation will find its feet back to play its leafing role as the giant of Africa.
Okelezo said: "Though things are tough now, but I urge all Nigerians to be patient so that within the shortest time we can attain our dream country."
Meanwhile, Okelezo has urged the Federal Government to fix the Benin-Warri Expressway and the East/West Road which he described as a death trap and had led to the lost of lives of thousands of Nigerians who play the roads.
He also tasked the government on the resuscitation of the Warri port which when operational will lead to reducing the traffic on the Lagos ports as well as reduce the price of goods and services, especially in the Niger Delta area. He added that that will also create employment opportunities for the hundred of unemployed youth in the region.
