The Delta State Police Command has intensified its campaign against criminal activities with the arrest of 202 suspects during a coordinated raid on criminal hideouts and black spots across the Asaba metropolis.
The intelligence-led operation, carried out on Saturday, July 4, 2026, was led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Department of Operations, following credible intelligence gathered by the State Intelligence Department (SID).
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the raid targeted identified black spots, brothels, and suspected illicit drug dens within the state capital.
A total of 202 suspects—comprising 102 males and 100 females—were arrested for offences ranging from operating brothels to the possession and sale of suspected illicit drugs, as well as other related criminal activities.
The operation also led to the impoundment of 25 vehicles, including five motor vehicles, ten tricycles, and ten motorcycles for violating traffic regulations, the state’s restriction on tricycle operations, and the ban on motorcycles in designated areas.
Commending the operatives for the successful exercise, the Commissioner of Police, Yemi Oyeniyi, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to intelligence-driven policing and sustained enforcement against all forms of criminality.
He assured residents that the command would continue to dismantle criminal networks and deny criminals safe havens across Delta State, while urging members of the public to support the police with credible and timely information to enhance public safety.
