The grieving mother of Oghenemine Ogidi, the 28-year-old Delta-based musician widely known as OG Millan, has accused the police of taking the lives of two of her children in separate incidents, describing her pain as unbearable.
According to a report by Vanguard, her outcry comes amid growing public outrage and renewed allegations surrounding Assistant Superintendent of Police, Nuhu Usman, who is currently being held over the controversial killing of the young artiste in Delta State.
The heartbreaking revelation surfaced in a video shared online during a condolence visit by former Senior Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor, Harrison Gwamnishu, and members of his team to the deceased’s family home.
Overwhelmed with emotion, the bereaved mother recounted how the latest killing reopened an old wound she has never healed from, claiming that this was not the first time she had lost a son in an incident linked to security operatives.
According to her, one of her sons was allegedly killed by police officers in 2022, while Oghenemine has now become the second victim.
“My two children were killed by the police. They took one from me before, and now they have taken another. What kind of pain is this?” she cried.
Meanwhile, the Delta State Police Command had earlier announced that ASP Nuhu Usman was placed under detention following the fatal shooting, which occurred during an operation by officers attached to the Effurun Area Command.
Police authorities explained that the team acted on intelligence concerning a suspect allegedly carrying a firearm and identified the deceased as Mene Ogidi in its preliminary report.
The Command further claimed that a Beretta pistol loaded with ammunition was recovered during the operation.
However, the police account has been heavily questioned after a disturbing video emerged online showing the victim subdued and begging before gunshots were heard, a development that has triggered widespread condemnation and calls for justice.
The incident has since sparked anger across Delta State and beyond, with many Nigerians demanding a transparent investigation into the officer’s conduct and the repeated accusations of brutality involving members of the force.
