What appears to be a peaceful service at the Cathedral Church of Nigeria , Anglican Communion, Sapele was temporarily disrupted as Bishop Erifeta with his group trouped in with security agencies to assume the leadership of the Church ten years after he was asked to go by members .
The service which was conducted along Boyo road Sapele was going on smoothly when all of a sudden, Bishop Erifeta with his group arrived the scene with an attempt to join them in the service where he will assume his former role as the substantive Bishop but was resisted by the members who vowed that they would rather die than to see him being their Spiritual leader again.
Some members who spoke with the press alleged that last month, a letter was purportedly sent to them by the Primate of the Church that Bishop Erifeta will be resuming as the Bishop of the Church again many years after he was disposed on the 18th of January 2026 for various offences levelled against him.
Protesting Women during the service were seen carrying placards bearing the inscriptions, ( No to embezzlement of our funds, We do not want Erifeta back Again, Enough is Enough to Under Development in Sapele Diocese, Erifeta Go Away, we Do not Need You Again. Primate, translate Erifeta to Other Areas etc.)
Evangelist Akuroma Otuike, former People' s Warden of All Saints Church, Sapele, Rev. Gabriel Enudje and Pastor Freeborn Ejowovwo of the Irhodo Anglican Church Jesse ,said in separate interviews at the church premises that members of the Diocese will do all it takes to resist the Primate from imposing the Bishop on them.
They remarked that there is no way on this earth where Bishop Erifeta can come back again to take over the same Diocese which he destroyed before leaving but brought back to life through the hard work of the Rescue Group of Churches.
The explained that they will not allow the Church of God to be destroyed by just on man and allow the same evil to continue and that the truth must be told.
They maintained that rather than allow Bishop Erifeta to continue the control of the church, the truth, justice, and peace must reign supreme .
Evangelist Otuike noted that the rate of development across the Diocese as of today is unprecedented to be compelled with the time of Erifeta when Assessment money were channeled into personal pockets.
He added that salaries/allowances of Priests, Pastors and other church workers wer now paid as at when due while promotions come to those who deserve such timely with out delay.
They called on who care (to know) to visit the Cathedral and other churches across the Rescue Group to see the spate of development going on in those churches when compelled to the churches under Erifeta where salaries and allowances are not paid for months.
Rev. Enudje affirmed that while Erifeta was with them, the Cathedral Church was a shadow of itself as the roof top were blown away, while a church of that status has ordinary cement grounds in this age but the moment he left, the whole floor was tarr-locked including the outside walk ways that have been beautified with flowers and equally heavily tarred .
The tio called on the Private to translate Erifeta to Other Areas for peace to reign, vowing that even though they are killed in the process, their ghost will fight on.
They equally called on the government of Delta State and well meaning Deltans to intervene.
Bishop Erifeta with his group from Abuja, the security agencies left the the scene, according to some persons who confided with the press with Erifeta vowing to reinforce on how he can conveniently take over.
