A former Secretary to the Rivers State Government, Chief Tammy Danagogo, has dismissed allegations linking him to a purported plot to assassinate a former Rivers State governor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Wike.
In a statement signed by his Special Assistant, Obele Briggs, Danagogo described reports alleging his involvement in a telephone conversation centred on an assassination plan as spurious and fabricated.
“Dr. Danagogo categorically denies these allegations. They are baseless, false, and fabricated,” the statement said. “He has no dealings whatsoever with anybody and was never, at any time, involved in any discussion, meeting, or plan bordering on violence, assassination, or any unlawful act.”
The statement further described the claims circulating on some online platforms as malicious and deliberately designed to tarnish his reputation, mislead the public, and associate him with matters about which he does not know.
It portrayed Danagogo as a peace-loving and law-abiding citizen who has served Rivers State and the country with distinction and integrity, consistently upholding the rule of law, due process, and peaceful coexistence.
Danagogo urged the public to disregard what he termed unfounded and mischievous reports, stressing that he is not at large and remains at his residence.
He added that he is willing to make himself available to the police or any relevant law enforcement agency for investigation, if invited.
The statement reaffirmed his commitment to peace, justice, and the stability of Rivers State, noting that he would not be distracted by what it described as baseless attempts to malign his character.
