The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested three suspected members of a notorious “one-chance” armed robbery syndicate linked to the gruesome murder of a legal practitioner, Barrister Chigbo Princess Nwamaka Mediatrix.
Nwamaka was reportedly attacked after boarding a commercial vehicle along the Kubwa Expressway. Her body was later dumped on the street, while her assailants made away with her personal belongings, including her mobile phone.
In a statement released on Sunday, January 11, 2026, the Command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, disclosed that operatives of the Scorpion Squad, led by ACP Victor Ogbeide Godfrey, carried out the arrests following intensive investigations powered by reconstructive digital intelligence.
According to the police, between January 5 and 10, 2026, detectives tracked the victim’s mobile phone, which led to the arrest of two brothers, Saifullahi Yusuf (22) and Ishau Yusuf (24), as well as Minka’ilu Jibril, also known as Dan-Hajia.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects are part of a long-standing “one-chance” robbery syndicate known for operating intermittently within the FCT, especially during festive periods.
Further findings showed that on January 5, 2026, at about 5:50 p.m., Barrister Nwamaka unknowingly boarded the suspects’ black Volkswagen Golf 3 vehicle along the Kubwa Expressway. Shortly after, the occupants reportedly wound up the tinted windows and threatened her with weapons, attempting to force her to pay ransom for her release.
Police said when the victim allegedly refused to cooperate, she was assaulted and pushed out of the moving vehicle along the expressway, an act that led to her death.
The suspects reportedly confessed to stealing her Android phone, which was later sold at Dei-Dei for ₦120,000. Investigations revealed that Minka’ilu Jibril received ₦30,000, Saifullahi Yusuf ₦15,000, while Ishau Yusuf and another suspect still at large, identified as Musa, shared the remaining sum.
The FCT Police Command assured the public that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the syndicate and bring all those involved to justice.
