FG Pledges Payment of Outstanding Wage Award Before Mid-August, Begins Processing Promotion Arrears.

The Federal Government has assured federal public servants that all outstanding wage award payments will be settled before August 15, with the payment of promotion arrears to follow as part of its commitment to improving workers’ welfare.

The assurance was given by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, during a meeting with the leadership of the Joint Public Service Negotiating Council (JPSNC).

According to the minister, the process for the release of funds for the outstanding wage award is in its final stage, expressing confidence that eligible workers would begin receiving their payments before the middle of August.

Oyedele also disclosed that the government is processing promotion arrears, including Batch 7, which was previously omitted, alongside Batch 9. He added that work is equally progressing on the payment of peculiar allowances and the resolution of other outstanding issues affecting public servants.

He reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to honouring its agreements with workers through sustained dialogue, timely implementation of obligations and measures aimed at maintaining industrial peace and stability within the public service.

Responding, the leadership of the Joint Public Service Negotiating Council welcomed the government’s assurances and called for the speedy implementation of all outstanding agreements to further strengthen confidence among workers.
