The Gospel Church of Christ World-wide (GCC) headed by the presiding Bishop and head of mission, Bishop Benson Abrifor has held the Church National Convention to celebrate the 58th anniversary which commenced on the 27th to 30th August 2026.
Bishop Benson Abrifor, while briefing the press, he described the Convention as their annual feast of "Tabernacle" where all members retreat as family to appear before God Almighty to obtain a fresh "Baptism" of the Holy ghost and power as well as an occasion for every member to offer sacrifice of "Obeisance" to the Lord "Jesus Christ" collective Altar, like Shiloh of old. (Judges 21:19 and 1st Sam.1:3)
Bishop Benson Abrifor had noted that the reason for tagging this year convention "A NEW PAGE" is for every member to gain and obtain fresh direction for the years to come for propagating the Good News.
He further noted that the "theme, A new page will reaffirm their unity to continue as a single GCC family as well as to obtain fresh anointing for greater exploits that will help to renew their hope in the coming back of our lord Jesus Christ.
While speaking about the state of the Nation, Bishop Benson Abrifor strongly warned leaders in government to have a change in governance and bring succour to the people as the people whom they claimed to be governing are wailing in anguish due to bad governance resulting to insecurity in the land.
He noted that the senseless killings due to high level of terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and unlawful adoptions has created hardship that has ravaged families across the Nation.
"I must say that, the performance of this administration is far below peoples expectations. What we are experiencing today is not what we bargained for in 2023 when we voted, therefore, the senseless killings and economic hardship should stop forthwith".
"As a Mission, we strongly condemned the present bill seeking to prohibit preaching in public busses and other public places, which is now before the National Assembly. let it be known that Nigeria is a "Secular state", we must not persecute any religious body or show preference for one and destroy others".
"In the forthcoming general elections, we urged every Nigerian to come out to vote for candidates of their choice, who can take us out of the "woods into the promised land".
In his conclusion, Bishop Benson Abrifor, reminded the Church, the Nation and those in government to always turn a new leaf and be accountable to God Almighty.
He noted that, in as much as we continued to apportioned blames to the leaders, the followers are also accomplished, looking at the general behaviors of Nigerians across board.
"We are what we are today because of the general attitudes of Nigerians to corruption. The attitude of the average Nigerian is corrupt, selfish and self-centered ".
He urged sinners to repent and give their lives to Christ for a better and more fruitful national life.
