Veteran Nigerian musician John Asiemo, popularly known as Daddy Showkey, has recounted how he survived an alleged assassination attempt three months after armed men reportedly invaded his home and killed one of his workers.
Speaking during an interview with The Podcast Network, Showkey said he was driving when he noticed four men on motorcycles following him.
He said he stopped at a filling station to buy fuel, where the men also parked their motorcycles. While an attendant was refuelling his vehicle, the gunmen allegedly opened fire, with several bullets hitting the car and penetrating the seats and other parts of the vehicle.
Showkey said he pretended to be dead before opening his door to knock down one of the attackers who approached the car.
“While the fuel attendant was putting fuel in my car, the next thing I heard was gunshots. They shot repeatedly at my car and bullets penetrated the seats and everywhere. I pretended to be dead , then I pushed my door open to knock down one of the shooters. I got out and punched him until he fell,” Showkey said
