Force PRO Benjamin Hundeyin explained the situation during an interview on Channels TV .

‎Hundeyin recounted that upon learning of the mistaken deposit from Sterling Bank , Victor immediately contacted his account officer to reverse the funds. The bank promptly executed the reversal, and Victor provided a printed copy of his statement showing the transaction was fully corrected.

‎Addressing rumors from SaharaReporters alleging the money was withdrawn in cash and redeposited, Hundeyin dismissed these claims as false, stating the bank statement showed no further movement of the funds.
‎“The IGP’s son noticed N100 million in his account, instructed the reversal immediately, and there was no attempt to keep the money,” Hundeyin emphasized. He confirmed the mix-up originated from a banking error involving Anambra State’s security vote and insisted the matter was resolved transparently.

‎The police spokesperson concluded that the incident was a routine banking mistake , fully rectified by the recipient, with no hint of misconduct.
