Ned Nwoko, the senator representing Delta north senatorial district, on Monday, January 19, revealed why he got his estranged wife, Regina Daniels’ friend, Izuegbu Anthonet, popularly known as Ann, arrested.
In a statement he made public through his communication team, Nwoko claimed that he got Ann arrested for procuring illegal abortion for Regina while she was pregnant with his child.
According to him, Ann now faces a three-count charge bordering on criminal defamation, procurement of illegal abortion, and involvement with controlled substances.
The arrest followed a social media post made by Ann alleging that Nwoko physically assaulted his wife, Laila Nwoko, resulting in a miscarriage.
These claims were dismissed as entirely false and characterized as a coordinated effort to reinforce previous, unsubstantiated reports of domestic violence.
“Izuegbu Anthonet is also implicated in the procurement of an illegal abortion for Regina Daniels during her lawful marriage to Senator Ned Munir Nwoko.
“This incident occurred after the marriage, notwithstanding subsequent attempts to reframe the timeline.
“The legality of the act does not change based on narrative adjustments. The matter is on record and has previously been publicly referenced by Regina herself.
“Essentially, Ann killed Senator Ned Nwoko’s unborn child.
“The circumstances of the illegal abortion was gruesome. Ann caused Regina to swallow a bunch of weed that left her bleeding for weeks,” the statement read.
It was also disclosed that a formal witness statement dated October 29, 2025, had been submitted to the area commander of the Maitama police station, Abuja.
The statement detailed repeated activities involving Ann and others, including allegations relating to the handling and administration of illegal substances.
Nwoko maintained that the arrest followed due process and was based on evidence and witness testimony, not online disputes.
He urged the public to refrain from speculation and allow investigations to run their course.
Meanwhile, Regina had earlier reacted to the arrest in a post shared on her instagram story on Tuesday, January 13.
She expressed concern over Ann’s safety and questioned the legality of the arrest, describing it as troubling.
She also accused Nwoko of repeatedly escalating disputes, stating that claims of domestic violence had been overshadowed by new allegations, including drug-related issues and theft.
She further stated that there was now a warrant for her arrest and that of some family members, including her brother, Sammy West, over a theft of $40,000 from the senator’s residence.
Regina denied the theft allegation, insisting that Nwoko does not keep cash in his house, and described the accusation as baseless.
