A father, Monday Elela, has been arrested by the Ondo State Police Command for allegedly killing his 14-year-old son, Tope, at Ajowa-Akoko, Akoko North West Local Government Area of the state.
Elela was one of the 25 suspects paraded in Akure, the state capital, by the Commissioner of Police, Wilfred Olutokunbo Afolabi, for various crimes, including murder, cultism and breaking and stealing.
The suspect and his wife were alleged to have killed their son and buried him in a shallow grave.
While the wife escaped from the town, the Police arrested the father.
The police commissioner said: “On the 30th of December (2024), the police received an anonymous call that one Elela Monday living in Ajowa Akoko killed his 14 years-old-son named Tope Elela and buried him in a shallow grave under a banana tree behind his house.
“Suspect was arrested and during interrogation said the boy was always involved in criminal activities and was embarrassing him.
