Iran’s Supreme Leader Khamenei Says European Colonizers Stole Africa’s Identity, Wealth, Stripped It Of Culture,
Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, has said that European colonizers who came to Africa stripped the continent of its identity, culture, and wealth.
He stated this in a short post on X on Tuesday.
“European colonizers came and dominated much of Africa. They took away the African’s culture, identity, and wealth. They even crushed the African’s language, script, history, and traditions. … Then the Europeans forced their own language on them,” he tweeted.
His comments come amid Iran’s ongoing tensions with the United States and Israel.
They also came a day after reported that the Head of the Palestinian Community in Nigeria, Ramzy Abu Ibrahim, had been arrested by operatives of the Anti-Terrorism Squad in Abuja.
Family members confirmed to SaharaReporters on Monday that Ibrahim, a Palestinian-Nigerian who has lived in the country for decades, was picked up from his residence in the Federal Capital Territory on Friday.
A relative who spoke said, “He was arrested on Friday by the security operatives. They identified themselves as the Anti-Terrorism squad. This man is not a stranger in Nigeria. He has been here for over 35 years, and he went to school in this country.
“As we speak, we (the family) don’t know where he is, and we don’t know which station he is being detained. The only reason we might link to his arrest was his recent advocacy on the growing attacks on journalists and other vulnerable people in Gaza.”
Iran has openly condemned Israel’s attacks in Gaza, which have led to killings.
In a more recent post, Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, wrote, “Look at how the heads of Western governments who always supported the Zionist regime are condemning it today. Of course, the condemnations are only verbal in nature. It’s not enough. Verbal condemnation [alone] is useless.”
He also noted that Iran was prepared to block all forms of support to Israel.
“In the face of the crimes being committed by the leaders of the Zionist regime, there’s no alternative but to completely block all channels of support for them from every direction. Of course, we’re fully prepared to do whatever is possible,” he stated in another tweet.
On August 12, it was reported that the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) accused Israel of committing genocide and cautioned the Nigerian government, states, and public agencies against engaging in any business transactions with the country.
The organisation said partnering with Israel would be a “romance with a terrorist state” and warned that such dealings would amount to “dancing on the graves” of victims.
The warning followed an announcement by Israel’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Sharren Haskel-Harpaz, in Abuja about a startup initiative involving 40 companies in collaboration with Nigeria’s foreign ministry.
MURIC’s Founder and Executive Director, Professor Ishaq Akintola, said in a statement on Tuesday that the deal was a deceptive scheme from a rogue genocidal state and should be rejected.
