The Isoko Development Union (IDU) world-wide led by its President-General, Prof. Chris Akpotu has appointed an "8 MAN" unity government to oversee the affairs of the Lagos IDU branch for a period of two years in a reconciliation meeting held on 19 October, 2025, at Good Shepherd Anglican Church, Marine beech, Lagos Nigeria.
The interim unity govt was put in place to stem the unnecessary crises of confidence rocking the leadership of the branch, so as to create a sense of belonging to all members involved in the leadership imbroglio as result of communication gap among the Exco members as 4 of them allegedly resigned.
The Eight members Exco is led by Mr Charles Adede as president, Mr John Utomakili as 1st vice president, Mr Osakuni as 2nd vice president, Dr. Alex Egbagbara as secretary, Mr Jacobson as assistant secretary, Dr. Kennedy Ozofere as financial secretary, Rev. Dr. Cambridge as spokesperson and Mr Philip Okwabor as treasurer.
While addressing the meeting before the appointment of the "Interim Exco", the president of the branch, Dr. Dan Ekere, had appealed to the gathering to be calmed and peaceful as the day meeting is all about reconciliation over the crisis of confidence rocking the branch Exco.
He noted that while the details will not be discussed here, there is need to work together to achieving the aims and objectives to ensure peace reigns and used the medium to inform the gathering that, today's meeting was convened at the instance of Chief Iduh Amadhe, the grand patron of IDU world-wide.
In the same vein, the president of the Lagos IDU, women's wing, Mrs Ovuokporie, on her part, she lend support to what Dr. Dan Ekere has said, and urged all members to choose the part of peace.
The President-General, Prof. Chris Akpotu, after singing a song of "PEACE" and chorused by the entire members present, he thanked the Lagos branch president, Dr. Dan Ekere for choosing the part of peace, noting that, from his presentation, Dr. Dan Ekere shared the vision of "Nation building" with the thoughts of former president Goodluck Jonathan who said in 2015 general elections that "his ambition does not worth the shedding of anyone's blood".
Prof. Chris Akpotu Observed that, as things stand today, Dr. Dan Ekere has no ambition and used the medium to pray God Almighty to guide the meeting to achieve its purpose.
The grand patron of IDU, world-wide, Chief Iduh Amadhe, while announcing the 8man Exco who were sworn in by the President-General, Prof. Chris Akpotu, charged them to imbibe the spirit of forgiveness and ensure there is love and unity among members and urged them to be of good character and build"TRUST" among members.
Chief Iduh Amadhe charged the 8man Exco to mobilize prominent Isoko sons and daughters to contribute financially and otherwise to ensure that the Lagos IDU "HOUSE" under construction is completed within the two years of their tenure.
Mr Charles Adede while responding, he assured the leadership of IDU world-wide led by its President-General Prof Chris Akpotu and grand patron, Chief Iduh Amadhe, including Lagos IDU branch members of his team commitment to building peace and trust among members ensuring that all members are carried along in the areas of decision making so as to create a sense of belonging to all.
The patron of the Lagos IDU branch, Chief Paul Odhomor, while giving vote of thanks, he specifically thanked the grand patron, Chief Iduh Amadhe, the President-General, prof.Chris Akpotu and the 2nd vice president, Chief Dan Odhomo who have shown concern over the leadership imbroglio in Lagos and ensuring the matter is resolved amicably.
At this junction, Chief Paul Odhomor used the fora to reconcile and unite with Dr. Dan Ekere, stressing that, they remains father and son as usual and both of hugged each other to demonstrate that unification, forgiveness and love.
