A 28-year-old Ghanaian man, Bismark Aduah, has been sentenced to five months in prison for breaking into his girlfriend’s mother’s room to retrieve gifts he claimed he had bought for his partner.
In an interview with Crime Check, Bismark said he had been in a relationship with his girlfriend, Rebecca, for nine years and had lived with her in Ashaiman for the past two years. He alleged that Rebecca’s mother never supported their relationship.
He admitted that he and Rebecca broke the door and lock at her mother’s house to retrieve the gifts, before taking them to her father’s residence.
Rebecca’s mother reported the incident to the police, leading to their arrest and prosecution.
An Afransi Court sentenced Bismark to five months in prison and imposed a GH¢1,560 fine. He said he had served two weeks of his sentence but was yet to pay the fine.
Rebecca was also convicted and sentenced to one month and two weeks. However, Bismark said he paid her fine, securing her release.
