Osborn Nweze Umahi, 28-year-old son of Works Minister David Umahi, has emerged Chairman-elect of Ohaozara Local Government Area in Ebonyi State following Saturday’s local government election, running on the APC platform on a development-focused agenda.
As reported by Tribune, the young engineer and entrepreneur immediately pledged to forgo his salary and allowances throughout his tenure, saying his motivation was service rather than personal enrichment. He also promised to prioritise infrastructure, economic empowerment and youth-focused programmes.
His father, David Umahi, is Nigeria’s Minister of Works and former Ebonyi State Governor — making Osborn’s emergence at 28 a notable moment in the family’s continued dominance of the state’s political landscape. His victory is expected to fuel broader conversations about generational transition and dynastic politics in Nigerian grassroots governance
