In a candid interview, acclaimed Nigerian music artist Tiwa Savage disclosed that she has never experienced what she would define as true love in her romantic life. Speaking to Zeze Mills, the 44-year-old singer revealed that despite various relationships, including her marriage, genuine love has remained elusive.
Tiwa Savage was married to her former manager, Tunji “Tee Billz” Balogun, from 2013 until their separation in 2018. The union produced a son, Jamil, born in June 2015. Reflecting on her past, Tiwa confessed that her feelings in previous relationships were more infatuation than true love, even during her marriage.
“I don’t think I’ve experienced true love apart from my son. Every time I look back at my relationships, I realize it wasn’t love. I thought it was, but it was just infatuation,” she explained.
The singer further expressed frustration over her repeated attempts to find authentic love, leading her to question if it is destined for her at all.
“Maybe love isn’t meant for me. I’ve tried repeatedly, and perhaps love isn’t in the cards for me this lifetime,” Tiwa said.
