The Isoko speaking Communities in Ndokwa Local Government Area of Delta State and those along the river-rine areas are agitating for Isoko-Ame Local Government Area in Delta State and not the creation of Anioma State, due to marginalisation and lack of political positions in Ndokwa Local Government Area where they are left behind in infrastructural developments, just as a memorandum of understanding has been submitted to Isoko leaders of thought for assistance.
In a chat with Isoko Mirror, the President General (PG)of the Igbuku Community , Mr Erue Lucky Oghenemaro had noted that, in as much as they are not against the creation of Anioma state, but, what matters to them at the moment is the creation of Isoko-Ame Local Government Council out of Ndokwa Local Government Area of Delta State, looking at the fact that they are more than "twenty"(20) lsoko Communities.
He pointed out that these communities are been marginalised by the Ndokwa people with no political positions and lack of infrastructural development and the only way to access their Communities is through Isoko South and North Local Government areas respectively.
While narrating their ordeal, he noted that the Isoko speaking Communities do not understand or speak Ndokwa languages and on the basis of the above, they decided that, the only way out is to join their Isoko brothers by agitating for Isoko-Ame Local Government Area of Delta State.
When asked, if the higher authorities are aware of their agitation, his response was yes and informed us that a memorandum of understanding towards the agitation has been submitted to Sen.Joel Onowhakpo Thomas, the Senator representing Delta South at the upper chambers, including Hon.Jonathan Ukodhiko and other elective members representing Isoko nation at the state House of assembly.
Mr Erue Lucky Oghenemaro also said, The Isoko Development Union (I.D.U) including the monarchs are also aware of their pursuit.
While explaining some of the issues leading to the agitation, he noted that, they just held a"Summit" on the subject matter in Ikot-Ekpene Uyo where they submitted their memorandum containing the agitation document to all present at the occasion, while the next submit will hold in Bayelsa state in no distance time.
Finally, while stressing the importance of the agitation, he noted that, currently "the forum of president-General of the group have started visiting different groups and traditional rulers and the Ozor of Igbuku kingdom, HRM. Dr. Isaac Erube has been consulted over the issue.
