The probe follows a report by data breach tracker ‘Have I Been Pwned’ which indicated that the leaked data includes both email accounts and their associated passwords, posing a risk to all other logins dependent on the breached emails.
A senior official at the NDPC, who chose to remain anonymous, confirmed the action to DAILY POST, stating the commission is working to determine the breach’s impact on local users. “We’ve begun an investigation into the data breach with Gmail and others. We are on top of the matter to know the extent of the impact on Nigerian users,” the source told the newspaper.
